How The Golden Age of Television Changed the Way We Think

Scholars and historians refer to the years from the late 1940s through the early 1960s as the Golden Age of Television. World War II ended, people shed the post-war blues and the American Dream of owning a house was born. And, on the heels of the baby boom, the meteoric rise of television sales led to a TV boom.

Suddenly, TV programming exploded and so did advertising. Right out the gate, TV ad executives started shaping our lives and changing the way we think - about cars, about the food we eat, about the friends we meet and the lives we keep. In short about everything.

Patti and David are excited to present The Golden Age of Television on January 30th, 2024 at the Sara Belle November Theatre on the campus of Westminster Canterbury in Richmond, VA. Filled with stories, audio and video clips, the presentation describes how television emerged as the most dominant form of mass media and forever changed our lives.
