How to Tell Your Stories: A Writing Activity

Why is it important to tell your stories? Because your family needs to know. Because your friends need to know. Because you need to remember.

The problem is that most people don't think they have interesting stories. And, if they want to write them down, they don't know where to begin.

That's not a problem for the guests and residents at the Tuckahoe Pines Resort Community where during the spring of 2024, Patti and David will guide a group of 12 people through the process of preserving their most precious memories. Through a series of writing activities, participants will learn how "to mine" their life to identify stories they want to develop. During those activities, they'll learn how to create a strong opening and closing, how to insert dialogue and close their stories with impact. By the end, each participant will have a fully developed story and a template they can use to transform their other life experiences into memorable stories.
